Nearly 800 children benefited with vision care from the 2024 OneSight vision Clinic, a joint effort between FSL and OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation. FSL sponsors the clinic every October in its hometown, Kansas City, Missouri, and encourages employees to volunteer their time to staff the event. This allowed:
- 794 students received an eye exam
- 576 students left the client with a new pair of glasses
- 130 students received glasses that manufacturing off-site
The annual vision clinic has grown from a one-day event to a week-long event in 2024. The clinic leverages FSL volunteers and underwriting, along with OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation's proven clinic model and manufacturing capabilities, enabling most participants in need of glasses to receive newly prescribed, quality eyewear onsite.
“There were so many children with very strong prescriptions who had never worn glasses, or it had been several years since they had a pair,” said Melinda Everley, Director, FSL Marketing. “Many thanks to our FTJ/FSL volunteers, Score 1 for Health, and the OneSight Core Team members. Without all of them giving their time, this could not be accomplished.”
Giving back to the community has been a core value of FSL since its inception, embraced and carried forward by the Jones family and engaged employees.
FSL President Bryce Jones said, "The OneSight Clinic serves underprivileged students in grades K-12 who otherwise might not have the opportunity to get an eye exam or prescriptive glasses. It's an amazing experience to watch children light up when their vision is improved and enhanced. Vision insurance if FSL's largest product line, so financial support and participation in the Vision Clinic is a logical extension of the company."
